Divya Shekar had conducted an assembly session on 02.03.15 for students of class VI to XII. The whole week was a follow-up session. On the first day of the follow-up session she covered the following points:

  • What is Project SEARCH??                                                           Project SEARCH (Sensitization, Education, Awareness on Recycling for a Cleaner Habitat) - a TERI -  Tetra Pak Initiative – is a school education Programme that aims to raise awareness among school students, teachers, school communities, and the society at large on the issues of recycling, sustainable development, and active citizenship. The idea is to encourage young students and teachers to practice the 4Rs – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle – in their daily lives and to make consumption choices that would ensure the sustainability of the planet in the years to come.
  •  What is TERI???                                                                            The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), a non – profit institution is actively engaged in a number of research and grass root activities in the field of environment conservation. The Educating Youth for Sustainable Development (EYSD) division at TERI strives to instill a sense of responsibility among the youth towards environment, and encourages them to formulate out - of - the - box solutions for environmental problems. EYSD works with schools, colleges, youth groups, ministries, government agencies, corporate houses, and other national and international organisations.

  • Objectives of Project SEARCH:                                                    1. To raise awareness among school students on environment in general and recycling in specific                                             2. To instill good waste management practices in children and inculcate the habit of recycling.                                             3. To educate students on nutritional benefits of carton packaging of beverages.                                                          4. To help Tetra Pak set-up collection centers in schools for recycling of used Tetra Pak cartons.
